The IDIA is an advanced center for the exploration of aesthetic and interdisciplinary design thinking, informed by science and technology. Artists, designers, composers and performers continuously are in collaboration - working in tandem with technicians and scientists in the research and design of new media projects. IDIA projects are exhibited nationally and internationally and the work disseminated at numerous conferences and presentations.
Traversal for Boston Cyberarts | Traversal for Boston Cyberarts was a live performance and hybrid reality installation that bridged the physical and virtual worlds. It connected Faneuil Hall in Boston with a bell tower with midi controlled carillon as part of the 2009 Boston Cyberarts Festival.

AM Radio: The Red and The Wild at IDIA Labs in Second Life | IDIA hosts AM Radio's The Red and the Wild as the inaugural artist-in-residence at IDIA Labs - an exhibition and installation sim for virtual installation art and performance.

Displaced Resonance | Displaced Resonance Interactive Intermedia Installation This installation consists of sixteen sculpture forms, networked in a responsive grid controlling light and sound, based on visitor proximities. Full-range internal loudspeakers drive sound through the sculptures. A computer system using an infrared camera, tracks the movement of visitors and responds by controlling the distribution of sound to the tubes, while also controlling LED lighting associated with the sculptural forms.
